As Chairman of the Yorkshire Ridings Society you may think I would be delighted that a group of residents, ‘Yarm 4 Yorkshire’, successfully pressed Yarm Town Council to hold a referendum about whether or not Yarm should be in Yorkshire but to me it just seemed so unnecessary. Very soon people were beginning to realise the changes were not as they were first portrayed by the press in graphics showing huge chunks of Yorkshire being separated off. A fine word that seems right in every situation… Can’t believe it took me a week to notice this post!!
