Petroleum and natural gas are made in the same way. Although uranium is found in rocks all over the world, nuclear power plants usually use a very rare type of uranium, U-235. There is a real benefit to burning gas in America, but it’s less than often claimed, and much of that benefit comes from using modern techniques and new equipment.
